Day 135

The end of youngest's first full week at school and she is still enjoying it. So much that she would rather play with her friends on the school grounds than go home!
Yahoo its Friday again!
I collected youngest from school as normal but because her sister wasn't coming home with us she didn't want to leave. Some of the other children from her year were playing in the playground so I let her join in. Well, I say playing, they weren't exactly doing much. They just kept walking along a little wall around a small garden. (So you could say they were going "round and round the garden, like a teddy bear", sorry I couldn't resist!).
In the end I managed to drag her away by promising she could choose some sweets from the shop en route. I know I shouldn't bribe her, and especially not with sweets. But I do feel sorry for her when she is own her own with no sister and brother to play with. Her brother will be home later but she has potentially a long wait before then as the motorway is always a nightmare on a Friday.
When she saw the ice cream van she opted for a lolly ice instead. I almost put a stop to it because I planned to go into one of the shops for some naan bread to go with tonights home made curry. I knew the chances of her finishing the lolly ice before I got to the shop was slim, and if she ate as she normally does she would be covered in melted sticky lolly. However after some face pulling from youngest I bought her the lolly ice, and yes you guessed it I was proven right. We had to stand outside for about ten minutes whilst she finished it and then I had to route in my bag for something to at least clean off the worst of it from her hands.
Maybe she was tired after a full week of school, I don't know but she was getting increasingly fed up and bored as we walked home and waited for her Dad and brother. In the end I abandoned all hope of doing any work and I roped her in to helping me clean the house instead.
I couldn't help feeling that, despite my best efforts, I was wasting my time. With a weekend of the kids the house will no doubt be dirty and messy again by Monday morning. Oh well, it kept youngest busy
