Day 123

Having something to do the day after a party can make the day less of a disappointment and bring some surprising results.
Today was bound to be a bit of a let down after yesterday. Not just for the kids, but for me as well. Despite all of my complaints and moaning about the hard work involved I love entertaining people. Especially when people obviously enjoy it like they did yesterday. I have one friend in particular that is very good at making you feel appreciated. She is always enthusiastic to be there and tells you how wonderful the food is. She is definitely one of those feel good friends.

My partner and I also had a lot of business stuff to catch up on today. This mean't the kids needed to occupy themselves again. Although it wasn't a very late night last night I half expected the girls to be tired. I thought our eldest daughter would just want to slob in front of the TV However, as luck would have it, the weather was much better today, and the kids wanted to make the most of it. I think they were inspired by all of the outdoor fun of yesterday.

To break up our day we decided to walk to our nearest town with the kids in tow. They complained as usual. The promise of a replacement water pistol and an opportunity to spend some money cheered them up though.

Our son decided to spend some of his birthday money and buy Rock band for the PS3. It was reduced in the shop so he got quite a bargain. It is just typical of us that we buy an oversized item when we walk to the shops, rather than have a car. But with some clever maneuvering we could still get youngest, her water pistol and Rock Band all on the already clapped out cheap buggy.

I knew when we returned home my partner would be itching to help set up the guitar, drums and microphone, rather than carrying on with our work. Sure enough before long we had the erm... dulcet tones? of the kids and partner blasting out from the stereo. In the end I gave up the battle and joined in. It was harder to master the songs than we expected but was great fun. I think it will be a great fallback for those cold and wet winter days, when it is too horrible to go out anywhere. After all we all managed to get up quite a sweat just drumming and playing guitar, not to mention singing rock songs at the top of our voices Happy.
